¿Porque cambiara el mundo? Forces of Change

I spent twenty years looking for an answer to a question.  As a graduate student at Georgetown University I wondered how naked individualism, greed and self-interest could either destroy or improve our world.   I maintained that persons would eventually evolve into responsible, giving and just individuals as they would come to realize that their happiness depends on others.   One of my professors, Dr. Geiger,  asked me what would drive such enlightened individualism.  I could not answer him.

Only now I have an answer.  Web culture is forcing us to change.  Soon we will not be able to work or socialize without the web.  We will need to share, collaborate, participate and show creativity. On the web, a person who does not give, does not receive.  A person who is rude does not connect. A person is not judged for its appearance.  Race, age, gender, social class is irrelevant. But one does have a reputation to fight for.

A new culture is emerging; web culture shared by hundreds of millions of individuals around the world.  It will form a common ground for all.  Behaviour acceptable to all.  This gives me hope. Hope of peaceful coexistence.

The Making of a New World

We dream of a new world of sharing and collaboration, participation and creativity, of collective intelligence. A world connecting people, thoughts and ideas, and this irrespective of nationality, ethnic origin, race, religion, gender or social status inviting all to use their talents and participate. Rather than impose, we expose and propose our views and respect those who differ. Together we fight for authenticity and transparency, for tolerance and rich cultural diversity, for free, open and unhindered access to information and knowledge, for self-determination, autonomy and human rights. In short, for our web culture.
